Testimonials

In 1989 Joe Roberts aka The Skidrow CEO left Vancouver’s downtown eastside behind him and went on to recovery, school and success in business. Today as a volunteer Joe shares his journey with youth everywhere on the dangers of making poor choices and the life it can lead to.

The Shoeboogieman Foundation (named after Joe’s street alias) is dedicated to helping educate and empower young people to live their dreams and avoid the mistakes that can lead to homelessness and addiction.

Important when considering any speaker is their past track record.

Sober Pledge

Join us in the fight!!

Download your own declaration of independence

Sober Pledge  – Grade 9 and up

Sober Pledge Young - Grade 9 and below

On July 4th 1776 the leaders of the 13 colonies, which are now the United States of America gather together in Philadelphia to sign the Declaration of Independence. At that time they were ruled by England. If the war had been lost all 56 leaders who signed the document would have been hung for treason.

When these brave men signed their names to the newly formed Declaration, the ideals for which it stood were not yet in practice. They did not have the freedom they so declared. What they did have was a vision and a piece of paper that was to become one of the greatest goals ever achieved in western history to this day. There Independence came some seven years later in 1783.

In the spirit of unity, happiness and above all freedom, we ask that YOU make your pledge today. Download the Pledge document best suited for you (see above). Read it thoroughly as you sign your name, to what may be the best pledge of your life. Do it with pride, do it with courage and do it with honor.
